Hospital Bed Guardrails: Check the Bed, Mattress and Brackets
Hospital bed guardrails must be selected as part of the complete bed and mattress arrangement. Compare rail coverage, mounting position, locking details and clearance during movement before ordering. A rail described for a hospital, children’s or stretcher bed is not automatically compatible with every model, and the product name alone does not establish the suitability of the completed assembly.
Compare different rail configurations
• European-style guardrail, YY-GR02: the current listing gives a 710 × 550 mm size. Confirm the polymer material for the quoted version as well as the mounting and bracket arrangement.
• Aluminum-alloy guardrail, YY-AA04: the specification lists iron and aluminum-alloy construction with alternative six-bar lengths. State the required length version, rail height and fixing centres.
• Children’s bed side rails, YY-CG01: the table lists 1900 × 550 mm with plastic, steel and die-cast aluminum construction. Review coverage and gaps with the actual children’s bed frame and mattress.
• Stretcher guardrail: the current specification lists ABS, aluminum alloy and iron, with dimensions to be confirmed. Send the stretcher drawing and identify the required rail version before requesting brackets or pairs.
Compatibility checks before purchase
• Bed or stretcher model, mattress dimensions and the intended rail position.
• Rail length and height, bracket profiles and fixing-hole centres.
• Locking and release arrangement, opening direction and lowering or folding clearance.
• Gap and compatibility requirements specified for the complete bed, mattress and rail assembly.
The bed manufacturer or responsible equipment team should assess the assembled configuration and intended use. Guardrails do not remove the need for that assessment. Request the relevant operating, care and product documentation for the selected model.
Specify what the quotation must include
Send a dimensioned assembly drawing, photographs of the mating connections, required material and finish, and the order quantity. Make clear whether quantities mean individual rails or pairs, and whether brackets and fasteners are required. Confirm the final drawing and supplied parts rather than assuming all attachment hardware is included.
